I swear, that when it rains, it pours.
And I mean that both literally and figuratively.
I don't remember the last time that we had a full day with absolutely NO rain and today is no exception as it has been raining off and on all morning already.
The vet came by this morning around 11 to check Sissy out. Sure enough, she has an infection at the surgical site. She will barely sit up, definitely won't walk at all, won't eat or drink and basically just lays there looking horribly sad. Her temperature was 106.8. I immediately went into panic and then thought to ask what "normal" was for a dog. Apparently a HIGH normal is 102.5. So, she really does have a significantly high temperature. The vet gave her a couple of injections of antibiotics and then gave us two seperate prescriptions to give her every 12 hours. We are also having to heat up washcloths to put over the incision for about 5 minutes every so often. Of course, this means that I have to get in there with Sissy, roll her over so that I can get to the leg and then lay with her so that she will keep it on there. It's loads of fun being that close to such a stinky dog! HAHAHAHA.
Dr. Brogden is just amazing. We love her to death and are VERY thankful for her, but not the bills! I have written her almost $1,000.00 worth of checks in less than a month and that doesn't include the surgery expenses. Jeff went to get the check book while the vet was explaining everything to us and handed it off to me to write out the check. After the vet left, I asked him if he saw the bill. His response was that he didn't want to! *laughs* Hopefully Sissy is feeling better within the next few days. If not, the doctor will be calling the OKC clinic to set up a time for us to bring her back there next week probably. ACK! Please keep both Sissy and us in your thoughts. We need all of the positive energy that you can muster right now.
Here is Sissy looking all pathetic. Poor thing.....this has been "our Sissy" since Tuesday evening. Sooo unlike her.

Since Sissy won't walk at all, we are being forced to pick her up and carry her outside in HIGH hopes that she will actually use the restroom. So far, it has been a futile effort.

Benny and Lucky seemed a little more than concerned that Sissy was having to be carried.

And of course, when we set her down to do her business, this is the response that we get!

Unfortunately, this also means that on the off chance that she will go, we also have to hold her tail out of the way so that she won't go all over herself.

On other news.......the pool is coming right along. Jeff did a wonderful job on hooking up the shop vac to keep the liner sucked into place while we have both the hose in the backyard and the front yard dumping water into it.

You can see here that we are just a little shy of being half way there. YAY! We are SUPER excited about this.

You know who is MORE excited than we are about this though? BENNY! His ball has been at the bottom of the pool for quite some time now. We saw no point in getting it out since as soon as we do, either him or Kolby throws it right back in. We figure too that this way he has something to do all day.....watching for the ball to get close enough for him to grab that is! Tehehehe You can see here that he is keeping a VERY close eye on it!

Anywho, I'm running off to pick up the kids from mom's house and then to the grocery store. What with the kids, camping, pool and Sissy, the house chores and grocery shopping has more than gone slack. We are out of just about everything! You know it's bad when you are making daily runs to the corner gas station for milk! Tehehehe. Although, Benny did rather enjoy getting to go for a car ride with his daddy this morning to pick up more milk so that we could have more coffee!
Hopefully things will start getting back to normal again soon. Normal? I wonder if we even remember what that is anymore!!!!!!
Hope everyone out there is doing wonderfully! You are all, always in our thoughts and hearts.
