What can I say about today?
Unbelievable?
Amazing?
Superb?
Out of this world?
None of those would come even close.
Perhaps, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
That one is getting closer! (I've always wondered when I could fit that word into the blog! Tehehehe)
Today was spouse taxi day out at the base. Obviously. Jeff and I had an outright blast. It was hilarious at some points, increasingly frustrating at others and down right exhilirating the rest of the time.
The day started out with a safety briefing. At one point, Jeff leaned over and told me, "this is the part that you need to listen to." He'll tell you that I wasn't listening, I was too busy being wide eyed and taking in everything and everyone around me. I can listen and look around at the same time though! Tehehe, I'm super talented like that. What I do remember from that briefing though is the repeated remarks made, "make sure your spouse can close the canopy by themselves. If you get out there and they can't close it, that was your shot. So, MAKE SURE YOUR SPOUSE CAN CLOSE THE CANOPY THEMSELVES!"
After the safety briefing, we had a few minutes until it was time to go to the seat belt/harness demo. So, Jeff showed me around the office a bit and introduced me to some new folks that I had yet to meet. At the demo, I leaned in and asked Jeff, "you are going to buckle me in right? That looks awfully complicated." *laughs* "Yeah, you don't have to worry about that, I'll do it. The only thing you'll have to do by yourself is close the canopy, but I'll show you how to do that too." Now, how hard could closing the damn canopy REALLY be? I mean come on.
Another wait until it was our turn to step. And then out to where all the jets were. Now, for someone like me that quite literally loves airplanes of almost any sort, just walking out to all of them was ALMOST enough for me to be completely satisfied for the day!
Finally, our jet gets back after leaving late. Then we had to wait while they changed a tire. And before I knew it, we were climbing into the jet. Jeff got me all buckled in and put my mask on. By the time that he had started putting my mask on, my claustorphobic feelings were beginning to set in and quite frankly I was about ready to jump ship wondering how in the heck he did this 2-3 times a day sometimes. This is REALLY tight quarters. You'll see a picture below where it looks like he is laughing at me.......HE IS! That was right after he finished snapping the mask into place and he KNEW what was going through my head! *laughs* Thankfully, when I almost immediately asked if we could take it off for a minute, he informed me that I didn't actually have to wear it at all! WHEW.
Then came time to close the canopy. Holy mother of God! Ten tries and I couldn't do it! Damn it! I knew I should have listened closer! What was I missing? Eventually I did get it though. We determined that I was just a little too short to be able to reach up, grab & jiggle the canopy all the while using all my might in my right arm to push the lever over and forward. Holy cow! I would have been fuming mad if I didn't get to go over that! Can anyone say panic?
Long deep breaths while the plane is being prepared and Jeff is buckling himself in too. I wasn't going to miss out on this just because I felt like I was having a heart attack! Teheehehe And before I knew it, we are on our way.
OH MY GOD!
Folks, that's just all that I can say.....the pictures will have to say the rest for me! Hope you enjoy them at least a fraction as much as I enjoyed my day with my husband today!

I'll leave you with this.....
There is no one on the face of the earth more proud of their husband than I am of mine. Nor is there anyone that has a better life than we do together! We are so incredibly lucky!
PS.....pictures will be dropped in the mail for some of you in a few days....shoot me an email if there is one in particular that you really want |
Oh I LOVE the pictures!!! Thanks for sharing with us!
