Who'da Thunk
We are being WAY optimistic where Lucky is concerned. We are at least temporarily dimissing the "unofficial" diagnosis of cancer and now ASSUMING *knock on wood that it doesn't bite us in the butt* that he had worms. Lucky has not only NOT lost more weight since the vet last saw him, but he has gained ONE WHOLE POUND!!! YAY Lucky! Hopefully he will continue to gain weight, at which point we will certainly be looking for a new home for him. Or so the plan was suppose to go anyway. We shall see.

Sissy on the other hand, well, she is running a temperature again and is back on antibiotics. This dog has been on antibiotics pretty much for the past six months. She tensed up too much for the vet to really tell whether or not she has torn anything in her non surgical back leg. She's clearly in pain in regard to that leg and using it as little as possible, but her surgical leg is hurting much worse than the non surgical leg. So, we will continue with the anti inflamatory medicine in addition to the antibiotic. The scenario with the non surgical leg is an all too familiar one. This is exactly how it started with the surgical leg.

Jeff and I talked and of course are agreeing to play the "wait it out" game with Sissy at least until after this round of antibiotics has run it's course, but frankly we can't afford to pay out several hundred dollars a month on vet bills. On top of paying around $100 a month on physical therapy sessions for who knows how long. And there certainly isn't another surgery to repair another ligament in her future. So, that leaves us at a "what to do" phase. With any luck, this infection will go away and it will just be a sprain in the other leg. It's hard to be optimistic though since we have been fighting what seems to be the same infection for 3 months now. She is quite literally in MUCH worse shape than she was before the surgery.

Depressing blog I know.....sorry.

Hugs and kisses to everyone!
