Long Week
| Wow, this week has just flown right by us and we aren't really sure where it went! My court appearance went well. Superbly so apparently. The DA has spread the word about that my testimony was the best CASA testimony that she has ever heard. Go Shelly, go Shelly, go Shelly. Tehehehe. People are constantly asking me if being a CASA is all that I thought it would be. Is it rewarding? Challenging? Heartbreaking? My answer is yes to all of it. I truly love being a part of this amazing organization. It's a lot of work. It's difficult at times because of the things that you see and hear, but it's well worth it. To know that I am making such a huge positive impact on a child's life in a time that they need that more than ever fills my heart more than I could ever verbalize. And honestly, it's giving me a lot too. It has made me appreciate my family and life even more so....which I didn't think possible. It's made me realize even more just how lucky we all are in our lives. Priorities were already pretty set and straight, but somehow it's made me set them even more so straight. Will I be a CASA volunteer forever? I don't know. I would like to eventually become a foster parent and you can't do both. Both are desperately needed though. Anywho, we woke up to an interesting sight this morning. Apparently, the Christmas tree magically "fell over" sometime during the night last night. Thankfully, it didn't break or ruin any of the gifts under it....although, some of the boxes will take a little time to dry out. And it only broke a couple of ornaments on the tree. It managed to fall in the direction that would block off the hallway to the kid's rooms though. Tehehehe. Jeff and I both laughed after getting the tree back up stating that we should have taken a picture of the tree on the ground......so that we could properly blog about it. We even went so far as to have said that we could always go lay it back down and get a picture! Muwahahaha. For now though, we are blaming it on the Chucky doll. *evil, wicked grin* All of the Christmas projects are complete and being shipped out here shortly. They may or may not make it in time for Christmas and we apologize for that. We simply just ran out of time! BUT....we hope that you all like them as much as we enjoyed making them for you! Oh and Warren, I'll try to remember in the future about the time difference and not call and wake you up on a regular basis! Tehehehe. We have one more day of school left and today is Jeff's last day of work until the new year. Can you believe that it is almost 2008?!?!?! Holy Schmokes!!!! I think we are all ready for this year to be over. We have decided that instead of sending out Christmas cards, we are going to send out "celebration cards" of the new year. It just seemed more fitting for us. They will all be handmade though and personalized by the entire family, so keep your eyes out for those after Christmas. Anywho, time to get this show on the road! Hugs and kisses to you all! |
