SHHHHH!!!!
On January 26th, we threw a surprise birthday party to celebrate Zoe turning 15! We've tried this surprise thing before, and her friends couldn't keep it a secret. I was hoping that with a little bit of age and a completely new set of friends things would be different this time. This year, it worked out beautifully! Zoe was completely clueless.

That morning, we dropped the kids off at my mom's house. Kolby was set to stay the night with Walter and mom was taking Zoe out to dinner and bringing her home at 7:30pm. Zoe was confused by this as she wanted to stay the night with grandma too, but we told her that we needed her home for something or anoter. Frustrated, she agreed. Around noon, Jeff noted that we might need our dear, wonderful friend, Tara's help. See, she is apparently, the best and quickest at blowing up those dang balloons and we had 75 of them to blow up! So, I called her and away she fled the comfort of her home to our rescue! Tehehee. Tara, we love you by the way! The living room ceiling had all 75...okay, 74 cause I popped one after we got them hung.....strung across it in addition to the strobe light that Jeff mounted to the ceiling (which is still there by the way! *laughs*) The theme of the party was "Rockstar". We had bought Zoe the XBox 360 Rock Band. We had a banner made up for her and set out tons of food! Here are a few pictures from the set up!

The invitations were sent through Zoe's MySpace acount to 6 of her friends. They were told that they were allowed to invite one other person (to cover my butt if I had missed anyone important tehehehe). Fortunately, I apparently didn't miss anyone and all of the girls invited showed up at 7pm. We had the game already set up for them so that they could practice while waiting for the time that Zoe was suppose to be home. Thankfully Zoe's friends are all really cool and a pleasure to be around.

About 7:25 I had the girls shut everything downa and get ready to jump out at Zoe when she got there. This was the worst part of it all. Everyone was so excited and every minute felt like an hour! *laughs* The girls managed to entertain themselves though by planning out the perfect way to "get" Zoe when she came in. Everything from locking themselves in closets to throwing the Chucky doll at her!

FINALLY!!! She's here! Needless to say, she was completely and totally surprised! She couldn't believe that we had actually pulled this off! WAHOO!!!

And let the fun begin! We were all rocking out all over the place! YAY! We had bought 50 glow in the dark bracelets and mardi gra beads that the girls (and Jeff) had a blast decorating themselves with! Thankfully, we had completely blocked off access to the sunroom except through the master bedroom, so us adults had a place to escape. Tehehe. The girls were having way too much fun for us old folk! ;)

I haven't a clue what time they finally went to bed. I know we hit the sack somewhere around midnight and that at 3am, we all woke up to hearing the drums tapping away. They had turned down the sound of the game super low so as to not wake us up, but couldn't do anything about the drum tapping! Tehehehe. Guess we forgot to tell them that we all had earplugs so that we could sleep through them playing through the night. Tehehehe. Obviously though, they had a really long night!

All in all, it was a HUGE success. Now it's time to start thinking about next years birthdays! Muwahahaaa

Our many, many thanks to all of Zoe's friends for keeping a secret and making the party an absolute blast! And even more thanks to Tera for yet again helping out so very much and just generally being a rocking friend! We are so very thankful for having you in our lives doll!

XOXOXO
