Last Call
Tonight, I joined my newest buddies at the community center for my last night of basket weaving with them. We had such a good time laughing and cutting up. Here is a group shot of my most recent baskets! They all still need to be stained. Hopefully I will get that done tonight though.

Here is a floor planter basket that I completed a couple of weeks ago. This one had me and Lynette cussing up one end and down the other begging Sue to just do it for us! *laughs* It wasn't at all hard, but all of those spokes were slightly annoying! In the end though, we both got it done (even if she did cheat and skip the last five rows!) and will enjoy our baskets for a long time to come! This basket is almost 1 foot tall and wide!

This basket, I started weeks ago and is probably the only basket that I have made that I will hide somewhere. I think I got a little bored with it and as a result really botched the shape of it. Then, none of us could remember how to do the arrow weave. So, it sat at home unfinished until this morning when I finally wrapped it up. I'm so not impressed with it but think I will try it again later as I really love the basket when it is done properly!

Here is the basket that I made tonight. It's a small candy dish and I just love, love, love this one! It would have been a quick and very easy basket to make if I hadn't been so distracted with laughing last night! Even then, it was still super easy. I just made it way too tight even though I had the dish inside it while weaving the majority of the wall around it. No matter how much attention I thought I was giving it, I still had to take it almost completely apart in order to get the dish out and correct the problem. We all laughed hysterically over this! So, in the end, what should have taken me about 1.5 hours to make, actually ended up taking 3 solid hours!

When one of our weaving buddies is getting ready to move away, we have a big farewell weaving night for them. Everyone brings food and Sue weaves them a basket that everyone signs before staining. Last night, it was my turn and Sue, I want the recipe for that cabbage salad! I wanna make that! I couldn't help but laugh at what Lynette wrote "I will not take it apart. I like it just the way it is!" Tehehe. My philosphy and favorite thing to tell anyone when they think they are doing it wrong is, "when in doubt, just keep going...and don't show Sue 'cause she will make you take it apart!" And last night was no exception to that rule. While I was making my basket, I got to the cross stitching part of it and made a remark to Sue saying that I hoped I was doing it right since I didn't bother reading the directions OR wait for her to show me. Then I fussed because I didn't have enough cane. THEN I realized that in fact I had done it wrong! *laughs* I'll bet my bottom dollar though that no one will ever figure out where it went wrong and frankly I wasn't going to fix it! Tehehehe. Anywho, here are the pictures of my farewell basket!

Ah, to my dear basket weaving friends, you will be dearly missed. I promise though that when I come home to visit, I will coordinate the dates around basket weaving nights so that I can join you once again! Many thanks for all of the fun and laughs! My absolute best to each and every one of you!
