Did She REALLY just ask me to do THAT?!?!?!
| Last Thursday, Zoe came into the living room and asked me to do some of her homework for her. I looked questioningly at Jeff and then looked back at Zoe asking if she was really serious. She was! I laughed at her and told her no. If she asked me to do that today, I'd be more likely to entertain the idea. She's completely exhausted. Those of you that know Zoe, you know the love of school she has. This is a kid that can't stand having spring break, Christmas break or summer break because she misses being in school so much. This morning, she left for school crying because she just has too much on her plate. Too much homework on top of sports and everything else. Well, today, she just wanted to stay home. I told her that she could, but that would just give her more homework tomorrow. She didn't take me up on staying home, but I wish that she would have. I'm a firm believer in the occassional mental health day after all. We all need them from time to time. My initial instinct is to tell her that she can't play soccer, but that would make her cry even more. I'd be more tempted to do her homework for her, but that wouldn't help her because she wouldn't be doing it and learning it AND she would probably fail! Tehehe. So, what do you do? Being a parent is the most amazing and rewarding jobs in the world, but sometimes, it just plain sucks! Poor Zoe, where's my magic wand to wave and make it all better for her? |
