Let Me Count the Ways....
That I can truly embarrass Kolby Jacob.
1. Kissing him in front of his friends
2. Rubbing his noggin' in front of his friends
3. Hugging him in front of his friends
4. Spitting on a napkin and wiping the chocolate off his face in front of his friends
5. Simply being near him in front of his friends!

This morning, Jeff and I got up and dressed early to head to the school to join Kolby for Muffins with Mom and Donuts with Dad event. He was very excited and wanted to know if I would be making all of the donuts for everyone! I suppose that might be a sign that I'm overly involved in his school's functions AND that somewhere in him, he really does believe that I can do anything! Tehehe.

On the way into the school, I rubbed his head and told him that I loved him. He immediately swooped down and out of range of my hand reaching him again. He asked me not to do that in front of people. So, I grabbed him and kissed him. Which only caused him to jump back and scream, "MOOOOM!"

After getting inside and collecting our food for breakfast and in between his two donuts, he had a huge smudge of chocolate on his cheek. Without even thinking, I grabbed my napkin, dabbed a bit of the all powerful "mom spit" on it and wiped his cheek off just as one of his upper classman friends walked up. Said kid immediately started chuckling, told Kolby hi and kept moving. Kolby immediately looked back at me asking, "WHY did you HAVE to do THAT?!?!?!?!" I couldn't help but chuckle myself and apologize as I explained that he had chocolate all over his face.

A few minutes later, Kolby looked at us and asked if he had told the story of boy # 3 coming over and ruining everything he and boy #1 and boy #2 had arranged at the sleep over Saturday night. I asked him how boy # 3 ruined EVERYTHING and he started his story. Boy # 3 came over and insisted that he be man # 1 in their little set up. Kolby, along with boys #1 & 2 explained to boy #3 that the ranks had already been set and he would have to settle for MAN # 4 this time. They further explained that he was ALWAYS Man #1 or 2. Needless to say, boy # 3 persisted in being the top dog and (as Kolby put it) "he finally tried to 'reason' with me, but I didn't."

Muwahahaha. So, Kolby, what you are telling us is that you were completely unreasonable? His rather simple reply? "Yes, I said he TRIED to reason with me, but I didn't!"

So, the moral of the story? Your eight year old is getting WAY too big for his britches! :)
