One word...............
| WOW! I had soooo much fun today! I got to sit for what could have been forever with mine and Jeff's dear friend Jay. He is such an amazing person and the conversation is always unbelievably stimulating! I wish that we lived closer to him so that we could spend more time with him. The pina coladas were fantastic too! Mmmm. The shower went wonderfully. It's always such a joy to see Denise. She can light up any room, particuliarly when she is as happy as she is right now! And she's a hoot to be around! We always have a great time together! The shower was at Bennigan's in Grapevine. Mainly cause Denise and I both LOVE that place! Tehehehe. We started everything off with a game of introductions. The point was to introduce yourself to the group by telling your name, how you know Denise, two truths and one lie about yourself. Since none of us knew each other, it was highly amusing trying to figure out which one was the lie that was being told! I was amazed at what an interesting group of people we had seated around us. We had former opera singers, a friend of Janice Joplins, track stars (of sorts) and everything in between! We even thought that we had a pregnant 14 year old for a little while! Yep, yep...you read that correctly. There were 2 14 year old girls there with their mothers. The second one to introduce herself started out by saying that she was 16. We all giggled, knowing that was the lie. I don't even remember what she said second, but the third thing was "oh and I'm pregnant." I about choked to death on my drink. Everyone was horrified thinking "well, that's one way to come out to your mother." She refused to tell anyone what the lie was and I thought her mother was going to have a heart attack right there at the table, but eventually it came out that she thought he had to tell TWO lies versus one. WHEW! I know that I shouldn't laugh hysterically about this, but I just can't help it. She was the brunette here.  Denise and I both ordered our favorite appetizers and on with the rest of the games and jabbering. Apparently though, Denise was growing very impatient & couldn't hold back with opening the presents. She got some REALLY neat stuff.   I kept trying to get Denise to do a dance in the chair for us. She wouldn't though. Tehehehe So, when she started opening up the lingerie, we INSISTED that she try them on!  Her new, soon to be mother in law, bought her a HUGE luggage set! Denise was super nervous about them coming to the shower as she has never, ever met them before. She kept saying over and over that at least it wouldn't have been as bad if her fiance was going to be there with her, but she was having to do this without him cause he's still in Iraq! I won't lie, I did feel bad for her. No worries though, I didn't let that stop me from pointing out that HIS mother bought her luggage! Muwahahahaha.....she looked at me and started laughing as I told her that they were already anticipating her moving out! You know the old stories and sayings about the in-laws....well this particuliar group works EXTRA fast! Tehehehe No seriously, I'm sure that they fell just as much in love with her as her fiance did. It's pretty impossible not to love this woman!  This is my absolute favorite picture EVER of Denise.  Our last and final game (of sorts) for Denise was to give her some "practice" with the cake ceremony for the wedding day.....or in her case, the celebratory party sometime in August. She kept threatening to "get me" when she saw the cake come out. Apparently, it would seem that she knows me a bit too well. She knew just what I had up my sleeve!  Eh, she got me too. As if I didn't see THAT coming though! Gosh, I had so much fun. It was fantastic to get out of the house for awhile. Of course, I came home completely exhausted, but it was all more than worth it. |
And I'm Off This Time!
| I'm leaving for Dallas here shortly! I'm super excited cause I get to meet up with a dear friend of ours for lunch. Then I'm off to meet up with another wonderful friend of ours so that I can host her bridal shower today! YAY! Denise is an amazing woman and Jeff and I are both so very excited and happy for her. She has found a great man and they will finally seal the deal two weeks from today! Congratulations darling! Jeff and the kids are all still sleeping. Big surprise huh? Tehehehe. I'm off to shower and get on the road now! Pictures tonight!!! |
